Part – 4 of Paint Historic Waxahachie Plein Air Event 2022

Welcome to My Crazy Plein Air Adventures blog.

Beauty is where you find it. And sometimes it’s found by climbing over a few fences to get to an unusual subject.

That’s part of what makes outdoor painting (Plein Air) so interesting to me. There are always new and interesting things to be discovered and painted.

Now that Paint Historic Waxahachie Event had kick off and we got our list to participate in the Waxahachie Historical Society “Saves these Places” I went through the list and choose two places I wanted to try my hand at.

Now I love to paint landscapes, old Trees, a memory of time pass, really anything that is old, but I need to step up my game and start painting old Historic Landmark, building and homes. So I decided to try my hand at the Henry Curry Baseball Field.

This is the scene that I want to paint.

But this time I was going to have to paint in my car due to the weather. I also knew hubby would not be a happy camper with me using my Acrylics in my car. You see it can get really messy.

So I opted to use my watercolor pencils just like I did for the Texas State Flower (Bluebonnets). You can read about it here https://mypleinairadventuresblog.wordpress.com/2022/05/31/paint-historic-waxahachie-plein-air-event-2022-part-2/

But as you can see here it was not working for me this time like it did with the the State Flower. Beside little did we know that there was going to be a little league game going on that day.🤔 So this is how far I got before folks starting parking around us and my view was taken away. 😥

We noticed that some of the folks were parking in the handicap area and they were not even handicap. Shame on them!!! I am handicap and still have to use a walker when I am out and about. I felt so bad for the folks who are handicap. They had no where to park that day.

So hubby as me to pack it up so that he could give up his spot and we decided to came back on a weekday next week.

The following week we went back to the site and I knew that my color pencils was not going to work for me. So I decided to try my hand with some watercolors and just play for once and not worry about trying to create a painting that the judge would like and try to win an ward on.

Well wouldn’t you know it other game. 😲 But I did manage to get this far with this painting and decided to move to other place to paint. But that will be for other blog…

This I title: “Let’s Play Ball” this will be hanging at the gallery Art on the Square, 113 W. Franklin St, Waxahachie, Texas.

Do you work in Watercolor? What Watercolor brand do you use?
