Beauty is where you find it. And sometimes it’s found by climbing over a few fences to get to an unusual subject. That’s part of what makes outdoor painting (plein air) so interesting to me. There are always new and interesting things to be discovered and painted.

Hubby let me sleep in an hour and boy did I need it.
Today on the OPS itinerary is to head out to a little town call Castell, Texas about 17 miles from Llano.
As we drove out to Castell I kept seeing these rain gauges on the side of the road where the road dips down.
I could not believe how high the water can get out here.
As we came into town you first see a white wood frame building that house the post office and I think the Library. (next to the building is this building) And kitty corner from this building you will see the Castell General Store.
Across from the General Store you will come across Llano River. Hubby and I drove over the road/spillway to see where I could paint. But there was no place to park. So we cross over the the road/spillway again and as we did we could see the old church steeple.
When we got on the other side we drove around and found it.
I had hubby park in front of the church as I church as I walk around the church.
As I look around I found where I wanted to paint. So I walk back to were Hubby was and we drove around to the back of the church. As I stood beside the truck to get ready to pull out my gear when i felt a bite on the back of my neck, then other on my right breast. (I know TMI)
When I look down I saw the biggest black ants I ever did see.
Will that stop my plant there and hubby won’t let me paint in his truck so that left me once again to draw.
Once we were done we drove back to the General Store and I set up my gear to paint but once again I could not get the feeling of it.
Maybe I’ve been in the studio too long???
I don’t know… but again I pull out my drawing book to draw not wanting to give up on creating some type of artwork.
As I drew the smell of the barbecue that was cooking was making me and hubby hungry. So once I got done with the drawing and we headed over to the general store to get a bite to eat.
Be on the look out for the next blog about the paint out at the Enchanted Rock State Park Adventure.
