The 2024 Painting Plan

Welcome to my crazy Plein Air Adventures blog.

 Beauty is where you find it. And sometimes it’s found by climbing over a few fences to get to an unusual subject.

 That’s part of what makes outdoor painting (Plein Air) so interesting to me. There are always interesting things to be discovered and painted.

The 2024 Outdoor Painting Plan

Happy 2024 New Year!

 I hope you and yours plus your friends had a great 2024 New Years Eve and Day.

 Can you believe 2023 went by so fast. It seems liked I just blink and it was Spring, then Summer and then Fall, and before I knew it, it was New Year’s Eve.

 As we all headed into 2024 most folks made their New Year’s Resolution. I normally don’t participate in the New Year’s Resolution because I am one of the 98% of folks that by February will break or forget my new year plan. But this year I decided to put a simple Painting New Years Resolution for the coming 12 months.

 Why am I telling y’all this? It is a way of being accountability to all of ya.

You may be asking yourself “What is your plan for your art in 2024?

 I normally in some way will set some small goals/plans for myself (Not a New Year’s Resolution) that I feel that I can achieve. Throughout the years I have found that if I don’t at lease set some goals/plan for myself I well tend to drift through the year or even life. Even when life getting in the way as it did in 2023, I still had a choice to move forward with my goals and plan.

 In the first part of 2023 I did more forward but then I had to have Cataract surgery, hubby had to have hip surgery shortly after that and one of my favorite galleries had to close down due to high rent. So, I stop my goals and plan and the rest of the year went by so every slowly and I have anything to slow for it. My painting did not improve, and my inspiration got put on a shelf.

 But this year I am working towards a goal that I can follow so that I can make progress for my art in 2024.

Now I am going to keep this plan simple.

My plan for my painting in 2024 is this:

* Study and learn – 30 minutes for three or four days.

* Painting – 30 minutes to 2 hours per three times pre-week

* re-join the OPS (Outdoors Painter Society) and plan some trips for Plein Air painting and photo references

* Go out on my own to practice my sketching/painting skills

*Look for some online galleries and one or two stone and brick building (fingers cross)

* Practice my sketching skills

* Sell 25 paintings for year.

*Get back to blogging again

These are my minimum commitments to myself for 2024.

The most important thing about this simple plan is it is based around CONSISTENCY.

One of my online teachers is Rod Moore and he said in an email, “Setting some goals is like setting the sails in your yacht. The same winds blow on us all but those who have their sails set tend to get where they want to go.”

So, as we jump into 2024, I will do my best to blog about my art and othering.
