It’s to hot to camp!!!

Welcome to My Crazy Plein Air Adventures blog.

Beauty is where you find it. And sometimes it’s found by climbing over a few fences to get to an unusual subject.

That’s part of what makes outdoor painting (Plein Air) so interesting to me. There are always new and interesting things to be discovered and painted.

Will hubby and I just got back from a nice little vacation at Airport Park in Waco, Texas.

Once we got there I had plan on going out by the lake to do some quick watercolor sketches but I have to a meant that it was just to hot and humid for me to be out there in that kind of heat (Three digits and high humidity.) I did try & sit out there for a bit but the medicine that the doctor has me on for my legs, (still trying to bring my KC leaves down so that I can walk on my own with no devices inside & outside,) will let just say that summer weather plus humidity dose not mix with my new medication. I got sick for a while.

Now I know I could have painted from my dining room window but that just not what I wanted to do. I wanted to be outdoors in nature. But then it hit me that while hubby and I had been packing up the Beast (our 43 foot 5th Wheel, I had told him that I was going to leave my laptop at home, no blogging, only popping in once in a while for 20 mins on FB & IG, and definitely no working on my art business. I was going to read a couple of books, catch up on some emails paint and relax.

But what I did not realize was I was not going outside to just play (paint) but I was going to paint and make it into work. I was going to video my self on my phone outdoors talking about what I was painting and how to paint it for my up and coming Patreon page that i will post soon. Now that’s work!!!

I realize I was not going to rest but work. So I had to pull back the reins on my self and stop. What I found out is that I really did need the rest. Sometime we need to stop and unwind, smell the roses as they say, step back, slow down and really look at nature. God create this beautiful planet with all it wonders if we only take the time to look.

As I stop to breathe I remember an email that I receive (just like hundreds of other folks did) and I want to share it with y’all. This is a blog from Artist Turner Vinson that I think y’all will enjoy.

Q & A

Who is this gal name J.D. Fields

🎨 My name is J.D. Fields and I love to draw and paint nature.

🎨 I was born in Southern California but I’m a two-time transplanted to Texas which I now call home.

πŸŽ¨ I married my best friend and soul mate in 1998.

🎨 My husband has three children, two boy and a girl and I have one girl and two boys. When we got married, we put them altogether and call us all family

🎨 I am acrylic artist but I am starting to teach my self-watercolor painting.  I try to draw several times a week also

πŸŽ¨ When did I start learning to draw? I can remember being two and half years old laying on my grandma kitchen floor trying to draw the animal on her land.

πŸŽ¨ Growing up I have been able to explored many different medium – Fabric Art, Crocheting, Oil Paint, Pen & Ink Painting and Color Pencils, Charcoal and Graphite Pencil.

πŸŽ¨ Do you sell your work? Yes, I sell my originals, Painting, drawing and greeting cards online and in galleries.

🎨 Do you teach classes? Yes, I teach Acrylic for Beginner’s workshop to adult. I also teach drawing and Acrylics for teens.

🎨 Back in the early 2000 I had wanted to try my hand in plein air.      In July 2013 I took the plug and never look back.

🎨 Whether I’m in my studio or outdoors I am still learning to draw upon those early influences in a way that I look at life, the subject I chooses and the matter in which I paints.
