Beauty is where you find it. And sometimes it’s found by climbing over a few fences to get to an unusual subject. That’s part of what makes outdoor painting (Plein Air) so interesting to me. There are always new and interesting things to be discovered and painted.

I am late posting this only because I was in pain and I did not want to sound negative while typing this. I really do love being out outdoors painting. So here goes…

I had signed up to go out on a paint out with the OPS group to Amarillo, Texas. I have been wanting to go and see the Palo Duro Canyon State Park for a while now.

We had to register with the park early so that we could get in. (the state park is only allowing so many people into the park daily due to the Corona virus)

Will as some of y’all know I’m still covering from the medicine that the doctor had me on that damage my legs and arms. Well after I sign up for the paint out I started to get my art gear ready and set it aside.

Now it was a week before hubby, and I was to leave (I can’t drive due to my illness so my hubby dose the driving for me). I had started to help pack our bags but now I am having second thoughts because I over guess my abilities.

    Have I jumped the gun?
Can I paint outdoors and get to the best location?

I am finding that it hard for me to move around to get the clothes, bathroom supplies and a few snacks to take with us along the way.     I am how questioning my decision on going on this trip but I am keeping quite because I don’t want hubby to loss his points that he put down on the hotel room for us.

Now it was the day we where to leave, hubby pack up my car and off we went.We had only reach Fort Worth when my back and legs started to hurt and I still had other 5 hours to go.

Heaven help me!!!

We made it to Amarillo, Texas none too soon.  By that night I was in so much pain that when hubby help put me to bed I cry because of the pain.

Why am I telling y’all this? If you are a plein air artist or like me just love to be outdoors and you got sick or injured, please don’t jump the gun and take a long trip like I did. Test the water first by going out to your local town to paint to see how you do first.

Now it is the next day and we are going to drive to Palo Duro Canyon State Park where the plein air artist are to paint.

So we left the canyon and drove back to the hotel for me to rest.

The next morning hubby and I went to meet a artist friend and her hubby for breakfast. After alot of laughing, talking and just having a great time four hours had past and it was time for lunch and for us to say our good-bye (*n*)

So I decided to draw it but as you can see I did not get to far because it was to cold and windy for me. So we left and headed back to the hotel.

Our last day on the trip I just gave up trying to plein air due to the pain in my legs and I spend ours last day exploring Amarillo. YAY!

Sunday we got up to head home and I have to say I will not try to make that long drive again. When I plein air it be close to home.

Now to rethink my next outdoor trip.

    Hummm???

In my home town there is a building or two that I have been wanting to paint so I will test the waters with that, stay tune…
